May 11th: We love this town...

We love the area where we live and we love being really close to a fun city with lots of things to do!  Yesterday, we enjoyed a trip to our local aquarium...along with several hundred children in school groups.  And, no, that is NOT an exaggeration -- I kind of cried a little inside when I realized they were all starting their tour when we were, not leaving.  Which, surprised me a little bit seeing as it was 2:00 in the afternoon. (Typically, things are very quiet at the aquarium at that time of the afternoon, which is why we choose to go then...)  But, we made do and thankfully we didn't lose each other in the masses.  I think we were both glad to get outside afterwards and have some personal space around us...claustrophobic tendencies?  OH NO, not me! Hahahahaha!

This little girl...is not afraid of snakes.

Quite possibly her most favorite part of the aquarium...the "up-up-up's"

Her 2nd favorite thing...touch tanks.

Faithfulness

"Let love and faithfulness never leave my children, but bind these
twin virtues around their necks and write them on the tablet of their hearts."

"Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart."
Proverbs 3:3

Mercy

"May my children always be merciful, just as their Father is merciful."

"Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful."
Luke 6:36

May 7th: Better late than never?

The hour is nearing midnight, and my bed is calling my name...but 3 days of slacking is enough, so I WILL get this posted while it is still the 7th.  We have a fun week shaping up so hopefully that means lots of pictures.  The reason for my lack of posting is this:

photo NOT taken by me...obviously...

We truly had a delightful weekend of being together and celebrating a graduation.  I am thankful for the opportunity and the memories.  And, as some of you may recall, I enjoy doing laundry, so I spent most of my day today basking in God's goodness to me...

Justice

"God, help my children to love justice as you do
and act justly in all they do."

"For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold his face."
Psalm 11:7

"He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?"
Micah 6:8

May 3rd: early birds...

For those that asked - the recipe for the Santa Fe Salad is really whatever you want to use.  This particular salad had a small amount of crushed tortilla chips, spinach, lettuce, black beans, corn, and salsa.  Get creative and add whatever you'd like!

We've been enjoying being outside  in the early mornings (while it's still relatively cool!), having our coffee on the deck, and watching the sun rise.  Today, I was enamored with the way the light fell on so many different things in our yard...our little ol' 0.33 acre looked SO beautiful with the sun bouncing off of things this morning.  I HAD to photograph it.  So -- the picture of the day is 9 or 10 pictures...but that's good, because something tells me I might not be posting as regularly for the next few days...something about a house full of people and a graduation party on Saturday night...you know...those sorts of distractions. :-)

Love

"Grant, Lord, that my children may learn to live a life of love,
through the Spirit who dwells in them."

"If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit."
Galatians 5:25

"And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us,
a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."
Ephesians 5:2

Thanks very much to Brite and Tracy for the shout-outs on their blogs.  They are also trying to blog everyday in May and were kind enough to link back to my blog.  Feel free to join in - leave your blog address as a comment.

May 2nd

If you walked into my house right now, you would find me sitting at the kitchen counter writing this blog post and sipping on my water (2 bottles down, 3 to go)...sitting here, with: the dishwasher full of clean dishes ready to be put away, a sink full of dirty dishes, a basket of clean laundry waiting to be folded, an exercise video waiting to be worked, a house needing straightening, yard work to be completed, prayer updates for the bulletin to be e-mailed, and the list goes on.  And, on any other day (in any other month!), I would attend to those things and if there was time, blogging would happen at night before I fall into bed.  But not today, not in the month of May...in May, we cast all sense and priorities aside and by George!  we BLOG! Yes, it's true, I am using (precious) nap-time to post a picture of my lunch. (Sorry, mom....)

Santa Fe Salad

This year finds me being intentional and very conscious of what I'm eating and what I'm doing to "burn off" what I'm eating.  I have another post on that -- half written, half still formulating in my head...  maybe in June?  4 full months into the year, and I'm surprised to find that what "they" say is true -- tastes do in fact change when you start eating good things.  I crave fruit, vegetables, and protein...which is good, 'cause that's mostly what I'm eating these days. :)

Grow in Grace

"I pray that my children may grow in the grace and knowledge of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.  Amen."
2 Peter 3:18

Each day in the month of May, I hope to post a photo as well as a Biblical Virtue  that we can pray for our children.  Join me, if you'd like, by leaving a link to your blog post in the comments.

May 1st...

As I said in yesterday's post, I plan to post a photo-a-day-for-the-month-of-May, as well as one Biblical Virtue each day day to pray for our children.  If you'd like to join me, feel free to include a link to your post in a comment below.  I am going to be lazy and not take the time to add a link-up tool for every post this month, but feel free to join in.

Salvation

"Lord, let salvation spring up within my children,
that they may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory."

"Shower, O heavens, from above,
and let the clouds rain down righteousness;
let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit;
let the earth cause them both to sprout;
I the Lord have created it."
Isaiah 45:8

"Therefore, I endure everything for the sake of the elect,
that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."
2 Timothy 2:10
